It's Friday and we are starting our 8th weekend of staying in place. I agree it is getting a bit old and weird things are happening all around us. Last weekend hit the 70s for one and felt like Summer. Tomorrow we are expecting snow and its well past April Fool’s. Since it's Mother's Day weekend I am dedicating this post to all the great Mom's out there. Many of us are working extra hard now cooking every night, cleaning and doing the extra steps of managing normality. And hint hint......here are some ways to honor your Mom if you are reading this and are not one. We all have Mom's in our lives.
Let’s do some fun things this weekend to start. Be a little self indulgent. We deserve it, right?. Take time Saturday and Sunday to do some yoga, meditation and reading. Also treat yourself to a self mani-pedi and facial. Take a long luxurious bath and smooth your skin after with your favorite moisturizer. Have a glass of wine as you prepare dinner.
Make or buy the ingredients for your favorite Sunday brunch foods and indulge in a late morning brunch. Set a Zoom time with your parents, inlaws, grown kids and socially distanced relatives who you would normally share the holiday with.
Now for the evenings here is a great entertainment line-up. There are many fun new shows being introduced for streaming on NetFlix, Amazon Prime etc but there are a few Broadway Shows streaming for free this weekend.
Friday night click here for The King & I. (streaming today only
Saturday night I suggest Andrew Lloyd Webber’s premiere of By Jeeves. (this is streaming now through Sunday 2pm)
Of course if a concert is more your thing check out the Boston Pops Concerts at 8pm streaming nightly through May 12.
Lastly Mom’s if you are looking for a great gift to yourself I may suggest buying a copy of Joan Lunden’s new book “Why Did I Come Into This Room” and listening to her speak virtually next Wednesday at via the Wellesley Book Store.
For those who are reading this and are not Mom’s these are some great suggestions to make your Mom’s happy and motivated to keep taking care of you as we loving do each day. I hope everyone has a very Happy Mother’s Day weekend.
